Dear VoIPSec colleagues,
we work as you do on security for VoIP with student groups to try new
security mechanisms, SRTP extensions etc. We work on QoS for VoIP, too.
So, we have a question to you, which is not directly related to security for
VoIP, but to VoIP itself. I suppose, that many of you also work not only on
the security aspects, but also on other aspects of VoIP.
Here is our question:
Does anybody of you have a traffic model for VoIP? VoIP is not very new, so
there should be a lot of experiences of burst sizes and interarrival times
between VoIP Packets. Which distribution function describes the bursts
(packet size) and interarrival times at best?
Does anybody of you have references or links to publications of the VoIP
traffic behaviour? Which models are used by you?
It would be very kind, if you could give us a hint.
Best regards to everybody from Siegen/Germany (located between Cologne and
Frankfurt)
Christoph
