Using something like the Secure Mobile Architecture (SMA), a pairwise
end-to-end security association can be set up between callers and every
packet is associated with the cryptographic identity of the caller. The
Host Identity Protocol (HIP) is the IETF protocol that enables the
pairwise security associations using cryptographic identities. Such a
mechanism can be established in an enterprise, the government, or an
Internet Service Provider (ISP).
SMA is an integration architecture that ties together the infrastructure
elements needed to create a system to provide such secure pairwise
associations. SMA:

Subject: [VOIPSEC] detecting call fraud
Dear VoIPSEC,
The subject is toll call fraud detection.
What is being done, how does one correlate the VoIP call with the call
leaving the switch and do vendors provide the same level of security for
VoIP products as they do for traditional phone products ?
Seeking references on implementation of toll fraud metrics and
detection, particularly on an IP telephony network, but adapted from old
style telephony is also helpful.
Thanks.
