In 802, MIBs are mandatory to implement. But not SNMP....
I have seen very large SNMP deployments in very large companies years ago.
Perhaps as a side effort there could be looking into how to improve USM
deployment.,
Oh, 802.15.4 low function device OEMs were at the last IETF talking about
throwing out the ASN.1 parser, as the MIB is set, so the datagrams can be
built without it. Actually rather sensable.
